Towards the end of October the Tasmanian Sisters were pleased to welcome Sr Christina Neunzerling, a New Zealand Josephite, to lead two Charism Alive seminars – one in the North at the Emmanuel Centre and the other in the South at the Mission and History Centre. Christina is a member of the Congregational Immersion and Discernment and Call into Josephite Life committee. Many ‘friends’ joined the Sisters on these occasions.

Charism Alive is an exploration of the ‘flavour’ that enhances the essence of a person’s spirituality and brings it to life for the Mission of God. In this case, the ‘flavour’ is ‘Josephite’ so the context is our commitment to God through the following of Christ and the Spirit of our Founders, Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods. We are urged by Mary and Julian to live our Josephite Charism authentically and in new ways that respond to the challenges of this time, remembering that central to our identity and charism is our service to those people who are without real choices and completely destroyed or abandoned in some way.
Participants greatly enjoyed Christina’s wonderful powerpoint presentations

her vitality in communicating the richness of Spirituality and Charism
and the way she led us all in prayer through song.

Christina also led two sessions with the Tasmanian Sisters on ways that, together, the Sisters of St Joseph will create ‘welcome spaces for new voices to enter the Josephite melody’.

Many people are already “in communion” with the Sisters for the sake of God’s Mission and new pathways are leading many more to the Josephite Spiritual Homeland where we “act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God” (Micah 6:8).
We left the sessions confident that God’s call to Josephite life is continuing to be honoured and nurtured and recognising that the Josephite Charism is very much alive in many hearts at this time in history.
Thank you Christina for reinforcing our hope and faith in the future!
