16 participants from around Tasmania gathered at the Josephite Mission and History Centre at New Town at the beginning of May to continue the Josephite Story through Exploring the Heartland in conversation and storytelling. Participants came from schools which claim their Josephite origins and from ministries where they work alongside the Sisters of St Joseph.

The Josephite Mission Team led the group in exploring how their own life story connects with the Josephite Story - and the blessings and challenges of each. Participants expressed appreciation for the chance of reflective time in the midst of busy lives and were very interested to learn more of the Tasmanian Story of the Sisters of St Joseph. It was also a good chance for networking with others who share the Josephite spirit.

The vision and spirituality of the Shapers of the Josephite Story took on new life when participants talked about the Story that they really wanted to tell in their own areas of ministry. These were presented visually and wonderful ideas should soon be being put into practice at Our Lady of Lourdes School, Devonport, Sacred Heart School, Geeveston, Sacred Heart School, Ulvertone, St Thomas More’s School, Newstead , Sacred Heart College, New Town and at MacKillop Hill, Forth and the Emmanuel Centre in Launceston.
At the end of their time together, participants were missioned by Sr Jillian Dance, the Sister Guardian of the Tasmanian Sisters of St Joseph, to return to their places of ministry to live and serve in the spirit of Joseph, as it was expressed in the lives of Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods.
The group will come together again in October for a Tasmanian Josephite Pilgrimage Day.
Exploring the Heartland, Continuing the Josephite Story takes the form of a colloquium, conducted by Sisters of St Joseph, over 3 days in May (an evening and two days at the Josephite Mission and History Centre) followed by a Tasmanian Josephite Pilgrimage Day in October. It is open to all associated with Josephite ministries. The First Colloquium was held in 2010.For further information contact: josephitemission@tastelfibre.com.au
