Open Day at the Centre

On 8 August, the Feast Day of Blessed Mary MacKillop, a large number of people accepted the invitation of the Sisters of St Joseph to celebrate Mary's forthcoming canonisation as Australia’s first saint by attending an Open Day at the Josephite Mission and History Centre.

The visitors to the Centre took the opportunity to browse in a leisurely manner and to imbibe some of Mary’s story and that of the Sisters who followed in her footsteps, especially as the story has unfolded in Tasmania.   The Open Day offered the opportunity for many to catch up with old friends over a relaxing 'cuppa' and to share some of their memories of their involvement in the Josephite story over many years.

During the afternoon the DVD Mary MacKillop: Soul of the Sunburnt Country was screened for a very interested audience.   The Open Day concluded with Evening Prayer in the Chapel at 5.00 p.m.

The Centre is open to welcome visitors on weekdays from 10.00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m and at weekends by appointment.
